It has long felt as though I am an anomaly: who remains with one employer for more than two years, never mind more than two decades? But beginning my publishing career as an editorial assistant with a small niche publisher in rural Vermont proved to open many doors to personal growth and productivity. As a motivated individual with both interest and work ethic, I was provided endless opportunity to add value to the company and aid in its growth with my creativity and sweat equity. Our high standards of quality and established mission to publish “for the good of the horse” ensured I could take immense pride in what I was helping put out into the world. And that, to me, was worth more than a step up the ladder.
